How do you roast sweet potatoes over a fire pit?

Cut them in half, put in some marshmallow, and wrap in foil. Then bake in the corner of your fire pit, not directly on top of high heat. I think they would fall right off a stick. You could cook them in a closed basket on top of the fire, but not with marshmallows in them.
