Mosquitoes coming through the air conditioner?

I taped a net against the air conditioner, but a few nights ago I saw a mosquito trying to get through the net and into the house. I thought low temperatures and air conditioners were supposed to repel mosquitoes! Any suggestions as to what to do to keep the bugs away?
