I'm about to be unemployed and need suggestions on a job!?

I have a mortgage and I will next week be out of a job. It's rather scary. I know there are few jobs available, but I would like to get into a career, and not grab the first vacancy. I would like an outdoor job, ideally environmentally orientated. In woodlands and so on, digging up trees etc. Can you advise me on any manual type jobs, and any courses I can take to get them? Open Uni courses and so on and so on. Your advice is going to be very helpful. Cheers everybody!
